Having a spacious, luxurious master bathroom is always at the top of the remodeling wish list. Adults love the idea of having an oasis right off the master bedroom, yet designing this space isn’t always easy. However, homeowners often work with limited square footage or lack the knowledge to transform their bathroom. That’s why they call Centennial Construction & Remodeling Services, Inc. Our team of contractors and designers can transform that tight and cramped space into the master bath of your dreams. Here are several designing tips to get you going.

3 Tips for Designing Your Master Bathroom

1. Location, Location, Location

When planning out the location of your new shower, tub, vanity, and toilet, you’ll need to know how much room you’re working with. Do you want that clawfoot tub in the corner or the center of the room? Do you have room for a water closet, or will your toilet be out in the open? Is there enough room for that walk-in shower you’ve always dreamed of? These are just a few of the questions you’ll want to answer before doing anything else. Keep in mind that running new plumbing and outlets will cost you, so if you’re on a budget, try to work with the existing hookups.

2. Curb or Curbless

If you’re planning on having a separate stand-up shower, then you’ll want to consider whether or not you want a curb. The curb of a shower is the little lip or step between the floor and the shower. This is usually where doors attach, and it does help keep water from splashing out of your shower. However, a curbless shower doesn’t have this transition and is often a safer option. Without an extra step of wet tile, you won’t have to worry about slipping as you get in and out of your shower. Curbless showers are also wheelchair accessible, if that’s an accommodation you need to consider.

3. Lighting

Most homeowners feel their master bathroom is dull and dark, which leads them to us. Lighting is one of the first things we talk about, and something we like the homeowner to think about. Do you want more natural light in your bathroom, or do you need more lights in the ceiling? Is the vanity lighting getting an upgrade? What kind of fixtures will you use? We also like to encourage people to chose a lighter paint color, tile, and countertops to complete the look. Lighter colors help make bathrooms look bigger.
